Drie brandweerkorpsen hadden een tweetal uur nodig om de smurrie op te kuisen. De linkerrijstrook was daardoor een tijdlang dicht, wat een file van Herentals tot Ranst veroorzaakte.
Ook op de E34 was het aanschuiven vanaf Zoersel over een afstand van 6 à 7 kilometer. Om 11.15 uur was de rijbaan opnieuw vrij.
