Volgens minister van Binnenlandse Zaken Annemie Turtelboom (Open VLD) is het succes van de kids-ID te danken aan de lage kostprijs. Wie het elektronische pasje tijdig aanvraagt betaalt immers maar 3 euro.
De kids-ID wordt momenteel in 50 landen aanvaard. België is het enige Europese land dat de identiteitskaart heeft ingevoerd.
