Er bestaat nog geen duidelijkheid over het motief van de schietpartij. De plaatselijke politie probeert de schutters, die er met de motor vandoor gingen, op te sporen.
In de regio vinden wel vaker gewelddadige confrontaties plaats tussen criminele bendes, meestal in verband met drugshandel.
