Het aantal honderdjarigen in ons land is in de voorbije twintig jaar bijna verdrievoudigd. Dat schrijft de Franstalige krant l'Avenir.
In 1990 telde België 546 eeuwelingen. In 2010 waren er dat al 1.559.
Onze oudste landgenoot is Adrienne Ledent. Ze vierde op 13 december haar 111e verjaardag.
