Volgens het blad Kleine Zeitung reed de zeventiger te snel en was hij onder invloed van alcohol toen de auto zondagavond rond 21 uur in een bocht in Bodensdorf naast de weg belandde.
De wagen ging meermaals over de kop en kwam nabij een afgrond tot stilstand in de struiken. De brandweer snelde ter plaatse en bevrijdde het tweetal uit het verhakkelde voertuig.
