Het vliegtuig, van maatschappij Emirates, had 361 passagiers en 14 bemanningsleden aan boord. Tijdens de reis kwam het in hevige turbulentie terecht en stortte het ettelijke kilometers naar beneden. Passagiers werden hierdoor doorheen het toestel geslingerd. 17 van hen raakten gewond.
Uiteindelijk kregen de piloten hun vliegtuig onder controle, waarna ze het veilig op de grond zetten op de eindbestemming.
