De aartsbisschop zal zelf het ontslag toelichten, samen met de bisschop van Doornik, Guy Harpigny, referent voor de Commissie die de klachten over seksueel misbruik in de Kerk behandelt. Ook Peter Adriaenssens, kinderpsychiater en voorzitter van deze commissie, zal er aanwezig zijn.
Vangheluwe is al ruim een kwarteeuw bisschop.
