Volgens de autoriteiten van de deelstaat Quintana Roo ondervond het toestel moeilijkheden snel na het opstijgen in Felipe Carrilo Puerto. Ze verloren alle contact met het vliegtuig zondagavond rond 23.40 uur plaatselijke tijd.
Het wrak is voorlopig nog niet gelokaliseerd.
