De beruchte 'Chemische Ali' werd volgens een woordvoerder maandag om het leven gebracht.
Ali Hassan al-Majid is op 17 januari ter dood veroordeeld voor misdaden tegen de menselijkheid. Hij gaf in 1988 de opdracht tot de gifgasaanval op het Koerdische dorp Halabja. 5.600 bewoners kwamen toen om het leven.
