Damiaanactie heeft koningin Fabiola bedankt voor gewezen diensten. Het goede doel vindt haar te oud en te zwak om nog te fungeren als boegbeeld.
De 81-jarige Fabiola is erevoorzitster van Damiaanactie. Ze heeft zich 45 jaar ingezet voor het goede doel, maar wordt daar nu voor bedankt.
Het paleis is bereid om Fabiola "in te ruilen" voor een jongere en actievere royal.
