De Europese Unie reageert sceptisch op de mededeling van Syrië dat de militaire operatie tegen de rebellen gestopt is. Dat verklaarde een woordvoerder van de Europese Commissie, het dagelijks bestuur van de EU.
De Europese Commissie betwijfelt of er effectief een einde gekomen is aan het "volstrekt onacceptabele geweld". De woordvoerder verwees naar eerdere Syrische beloftes die ook niet werden nagekomen.
