In de Duitse hoofdstad Berlijn is donderdag het Barbie Dreamhouse officieel geopend. Door het protest van activisten van FEMEN verliep dat niet van een leien dakje.
Het Barbie Dreamhouse is de eerste levensechte 'mansion' die ter ere van de pop in Europa is gebouwd. Het huis is 2.500 m² groot en is te bewonderen aan de Alexanderplatz in Berlijn.
Leden van de feministische protestgroep FEMEN vinden het huis "een seksistisch icoon". Zij zakten zaterdag ook af naar Berlijn om hun ongenoegen te uiten. Op hun borsten stonden slogans als 'Life in plastic is not fantastic' en 'Stop sexism' en staken kruisen met de Barbiepop in brand.
