Maandag besloot Gazprom de gaskraan naar Wit-Rusland toe te draaien. Aanleiding was de grote betalingsachterstand. Die zou maar liefst 187 miljoen dollar bedragen.
Nu dreigt Wit-Rusland op zijn beurt met het stopzetten van de gastoevoer naar West-Europa. Rusland zou namelijk nog steeds 260 miljoen dollar moeten betalen voor het gebruik van de Wit-Russische gasleidingen.
