Koning Albert II richt zich om 18 uur tot de bevolking op de vier grote tv-zenders en de radiostations. Het kernkabinet is vandaag/woensdag om 13.15 uur bijeengekomen in aanwezigheid van de koning.
Volgens verschillende bronnen zal de vorst aankondigen dat hij op 21 juli, de nationale feestdag, de fakkel overdraagt aan zijn zoon prins Filip.
