Het Nederlandse zeilmeisje Laura Dekker is van plan om morgen de Kaapverdische Eilanden te verlaten. Dan waagt ze zich aan de grote oversteek van de Atlantische Oceaan.
De 15-jarige Dekker wilde wachten met de oversteek tot het orkaanseizoen voorbij is.
Het meisje wil de jongste zeilster ooit worden die onafgebroken rond de wereld zeilt. Dat record staat nu op naam van de Australische Jessica Watson. Zij was 17 toen ze haar rondreis afrondde.
