Voormalig president Nelson Mandela, die deze week zijn 95e verjaardag viert, kan snel uit het ziekenhuis ontslagen worden. Mandela zou dan thuis verder op krachten kunnen komen, zo zegt zijn opvolger Thabo Mbeki.
Mandela heeft de voorbije vijf weken in het ziekenhuis gelegen en heeft af te rekenen met een longontsteking met heel wat medische complicaties. De toestand van de oud-president was een tijdlang kritiek.
