De voormalige Zuid-Afrikaanse president Nelson Mandela is terug thuis. Hij verliet onaangekondigd het ziekenhuis in Pretoria, waar hij bijna drie maanden verbleef, om terug te keren naar zijn woning in Johannesburg. Dat meldt de Britse zender BBC zaterdag op zijn website.
De 95-jarige Nobelprijswinnaar werd op 8 juni opgenomen in het ziekenhuis met een longinfectie. Zijn toestand werd tot een week geleden bijna telkens omschreven als "kritiek, maar stabiel".
