D'Hondt wordt zelf topman bij het ministerie van Financiën.
De 60-jarige Kirsch is ooit nog kabinetschef geweest van oud-premier Jean-Luc Dehaene. Hij schreef onder andere mee aan de financieringswet eind jaren 80. Door die wet wordt de verdeling van het geld tussen de verschillende overheden in België geregeld.
