In Syrië heeft president al-Assad de noodtoestand opgeheven. Hij doet dat na protesten tegen het regime, waarbij verschillende doden zijn gevallen. Dat meldt de zender al-Arabiya.
De noodtoestand was al sinds 1963 van kracht in Syrië. Daardoor konden veiligheidstroepen hard optreden.
