Sarkozy's conservatieve partij UMP zou slechts 37 procent van de stemmen hebben behaald. De socialistische partij is winnaar met 56 procent. Mogelijk behoudt Sarkozy de regio Elzas. De Parti Socialiste zou Corsica binnenhalen.
Het extreemrechtse Front National van Jean-Marie Le Pen behaalde tot nu toe 7 procent van de stemmen.
De opkomst bij de tweede ronde van regionale verkiezingen lag met 51 procent iets hoger dan bij de eerste ronde, vorige zondag.
