Om een nog onbekende reden verloor de bestuurster de controle over haar stuur op de Antwerpsesteenweg (N12), ter hoogte van de trappistenbrouwerij van Westmalle.
Ze raakte van de weg en belandde in de gracht. De brandweer moest de vrouw uit het wrak bevrijden.
Ze werd overgebracht naar het AZ Sint-Jozef in Malle.
