Er werd heel wat afgeknotst en gebotst.
Geen regels en alsmaar meer auto's op de wegen: vodden konden uiteraard niet uitblijven. Op de kruispunten was het: de grootste eerst. Maar wat als de kleinste zich toch de grootste waande? Of als beide wagens even groot waren? Boempatat!
Verkeersborden of -lichten bestonden haast nog niet en dus moest men wat anders verzinnen. Toen wist men het plots: 'voorrang van rechts'! Die werd exact 53 jaar geleden, op 1 december 1961, ingevoerd.
Van voorrang van rechts naar kontjes. Linkse billen en rechtse billen. (SL)
