Een gepensioneerde Britse chirurg, Roger Allsopp (70), heeft dinsdag het Kanaal overgezwommen. Hij komt daarmee in het Guinness Book of Records als oudste man die dit klusje klaarde.
Allsopp dook dinsdagmorgen het water in bij het Engelse Dover (Engeland) om 18 uur later het strand bij het Franse Cap Gris-Nez te bereiken.
Hij haalde met zijn sportieve prestatie geld op voor kankeronderzoek.
