Buss liep elke dag 20 uur lang op de loopband, die in een winkelcentrum was geplaatst. Met zijn nog al bizarre recordpoging wilde hij geld inzamelen voor een organisatie die gewonde Britse militairen steunt.
Buss liep zelf gehoorschade op bij een aanslag in Noord-Ierland. De gewezen militair was na zijn recordpoging vermoeid, maar voldaan.
