De Gouden Roos, het meest prestigieuze Europese festival voor amusementsprogramma's op televisie, verhuist volgend jaar in mei naar Brussel. Het festival vond voorheen altijd plaats in Zwitserland. Reden voor de verhuis is de verkoop van de festivalrechten aan de Europese Radio-unie (European Broadcasting Union, EBU).
De eerste editie van de Gouden Roos (Rose d'Or) vond plaats in 1961 in Montreux. Dat bleef zo tot in 2004, toen het festival naar Luzern trok.
In het verleden hebben nog maar twee Vlaamse producties een Gouden Roos gewonnen: 'De Mol' (Woestijnvis voor VRT in 2000) en 'Benidorm Bastards' (Shelter voor 2BE in 2010. In mei greep het 2BE-programma 'Wat Als?' nog naast de felbegeerde trofee in de categorie 'Comedy'.
