Het initiatief kwam van de bisschop van Gap, Jean-Michel di Falco Léandri. De opbrengst van de cd gaat onder meer naar de inrichting van een school voor 1.700 leerlingen in Madagaskar.
Het album bestaat niet alleen uit christelijke liedjes, ook nummers van onder meer Jacques Brel zijn te horen. 'Spiritus Dei' werd op 29 maart uitgebracht en staat al drie weken op rij op nummer één in de Franse top vijftig.
