Joey Chestnut is stilaan een fenomeen aan het worden in de Verenigde Staten. Hij kroonde zich er voor de vijfde keer op rij tot officieuze wereldkampioen hotdogs eten. Hij propte op tien minuten 62 hotdogs naar binnen.
Joey Chestnut is een 27-jarige bouwingenieur. In 2007 veroverde hij zijn eerste titel.
Bij de vrouwen was Sonya Thomas de sterkste. Zij verorbde veertig hotdogs op tien minuten.
De winnaars krijgen elk 14.000 euro.
