De piano van fabrikant Challen is aangetast door koffievlekken en brandplekken van sigaretten. In 1964 kochten de studiobazen van Abbey Road het instrument aan, waar het twintig jaar lang gebruikt werd.
The Beatles hebben de piano gebruikt voor 'Tomorrow never knows', 'Paperback writer' en 'Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da'. Voor het klassieke album 'Dark side of the moon' maakte Pink Floyd ook gebruik van het instrument.
De veiling vindt plaats op 15 augustus op het Vintage Goodwood festival. Het veilinghuis hoopt dat de piano een bedrag tussen 119.000 en 178.000 euro opbrengt.
