Bos, die in 'Samson' de rol van Joop Mengelmoes vertolkte, is de eerste buitenlander die de Zuid-Afrikaanse onderscheiding krijgt. Sinds de jaren '90 sloeg hij al meermaals de handen in elkaar met grote namen uit de Zuid-Afrikaanse muziekwereld zoals Johannes Kerkorrel, Rhay Phiri, Koos Kombuis en Amanda Strydom.
Op het nieuwste album van de Nederlander, 'Kloofstraat', staan ook meerdere Afrikaanse nummers.
