De 31-jarige Duitser André Greipel (Lotto-Belisol) heeft woensdag het natourcriterium van Antwerpen achter derny's gewonnen. Belgisch kampioen Stijn Devolder werd tweede, de Nederlander Johnny Hoogerland derde.
Geen podiumplaats dus voor publiekstrekker en Tourwinnaar Chris Froome. De Brit was echter duidelijk vastbesloten het niet aan zijn hart te laten komen en liet zich de aandacht van de talrijk opgekomen fans welgevallen.
Even ontstond er beroering toen de reclameboog van Het Laatste Nieuws aan de finish inzakte. De constructie kon echter door toeschouwers en stewards nog omhoog worden gehouden.
