Andy Murray (ATP 2) is maandag uitstekend van start gegaan op Wimbledon, het derde grandslamtoernooi van het seizoen. De Schot, zoals steeds de grote publiekslieveling op het Londense gras, haalde het in de eerste ronde makkelijk van de Duitser Benjamin Becker (ATP 92). De setstanden waren 6-4, 6-3 en 6-2.
In de tweede ronde neemt Murray, vorig jaar verliezend finalist op Wimbledon, het op tegen zijn landgenoot James Ward (ATP 219) of de Taiwanees Yen-Hsun Lu (ATP 75).
