Murray is aan een ongelooflijk sterke Australian Open bezig. Hij verloor pas in de halve finale tegen Cilic zijn eerste set van het tornooi.
Het wordt de tweede grandslamfinale voor de jonge Schot. In 2008 speelde hij al de finale van de US Open die hij verloor tegen de onvermijdelijke Roger Federer.
Als Federer zijn halve finale tegen de Fransman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga wint, zal Murray dus revanche kunnen nemen.
