De Spaanse international Carles Puyol heeft zijn contract met Barcelona verlengd tot juni 2016. Dat meldde de Catalaanse club dinsdag op zijn website.
Het vorige contract van de 34-jarige centrale verdediger zou op het einde van het huidige seizoen aflopen. Puyol genoot zijn opleiding bij Barcelona en maakte zijn debuut in het eerste elftal in het seizoen 1999-2000.
