Tettenborn behoorde in 1984 tot het DDR-team dat het wereldrecord op de 4 x 400m verbrak.
"Ik begrijp dat ik door het dopinggebruik op een nestbevuiler lijk, maar ik werd destijds verplicht om het te doen", aldus de intussen 47-jarige Tettenborn.
De atlete liep destijds nog onder haar meisjesnaam Gesine Walther.
