Novak Djokovic (ATP 2) heeft zich maandag makkelijk geplaatst voor de tweede ronde van de Australian Open, het eerste grandslamtoernooi van het seizoen.
De Serviër, titelverdediger en viervoudig winnaar in Melbourne (2008, 2011, 2012 en 2013), nam in zijn eersterondepartij in drie sets de maat van de Slovaak Lukas Lacko (ATP 96). De setstanden waren 6-3, 7-6 (7/2) en 6-1.
In de tweede ronde treft Djokovic, die sinds kort gecoacht wordt door Boris Becker, de Argentijn Leonardo Mayer (ATP 98).
