De Duitser Wolfgang Stark (foto) leidt woensdagavond de finale van de Europa League tussen Atletico Madrid (met Thibaut Courtois) en Athletic Bilbao. Dat maakte de Europese Voetbalbond UEFA maandag bekend.
Voor de 42-jarige Stark wordt de eindstrijd in Boekarest zijn eerste Europese finale. Hij floot drie wedstrijden op het WK in Zuid-Afrika en is deze zomer ook actief op het EK in Polen en Oekraïne.
De Duitser krijgt als assistenten zijn landgenoten Jan-Hendrik Salver en Mike Pickel naast zich.
