Het moest ééns raak zijn voor Miller. Nadat hij in 2006 zonder medailles huiswaarts moest keren en dit jaar al zilver en brons had behaald, was het zondag eindelijk zo ver. Miller had lang niet de snelste afdaling geskied, maar was de koelbloedigste op de slalom.
De Noor Svindal ging in de fout op de slalom en zag zo zijn riante uitgangspositie verloren gaan. De 32-jarige Miller haalde het uiteindelijk voor de Kroaat Kostelic en de Zwitser Zurbriggen.
