Federer (ATP 3) heeft zich zondag geplaatst voor de kwartfinales van Roland Garros. De Zwitser versloeg in de vierde ronde zijn landgenoot Stanislas Wawrinka (ATP 14) met 6-3, 6-2 en 7-5.
Federer, in 2009 winnaar op de Parijse gravel, speelt in de kwartfinales tegen de Spanjaard David Ferrer (ATP 7) of de Fransman Gael Monfils (ATP 9).
