Kirsten Flipkens (WTA-31) is er dinsdag niet in geslaagd zich voor de achtste finale van het WTA-toernooi in het Braziliaanse Florianopolis (235.000 dollar) te plaatsen.
De 27-jarige Antwerpse moest in de eerste ronde in 2 uur en 23 minuten met 2-6, 6-4 en 6-4 het onderspit delven voor de Russin Olga Puchkova (WTA-109).
Flipkens was derde reekshoofd op het hardcourt in Florianopolis.
