Op de eerste editie van de Kim Clijsters Invitational heeft Kirsten Flipkens (WTA-20) woensdag in het Antwerpse Sportpaleis gewonnen van de Servische Ana Ivanovic (WTA-16). De 27-jarige Antwerpse trok in een super tiebreak aan het langste eind. Na 1 uur en 18 minuten stond er 3-6, 6-3 en 10-7 op het scorebord.
In het dubbelspel moest Flipkens samen met de Fransman Henri Leconte met 7-5 en 6-2 het onderspit delven voor Kim Clijsters en Xavier Malisse.
