Het ziet ernaar uit dat het WK veldrijden in 2014 opnieuw in het Nederlandse Hoogerheide zal worden georganiseerd. Dat meldt alvast de site Cyclo-cross.info.
Zowel Luxemburg als Treviso stelde zich kandidaat voor de organisatie maar zij hebben intussen afgehaakt. Ook de Franse federatie is niet in staat een geschikte kandidaat te vinden.
En dus komt Hoogerheide opnieuw in beeld, wat eerstdaags door de Internationale Wielerunie zal worden bevestigd.
Hoogerheide organiseerde reeds het WK in 2009 waar Niels Albert naar zijn eerste wereldtitel bij de profs fietste.
