Gatlin werd in 2006 geschorst nadat hij positief had getest op testosteron. De Amerikaan wil zich nu kwalificeren voor de Olympische Spelen van 2012.
Hij veroverde in 2004 Olympisch goud op de 100 meter. In 2005 werd hij wereldkampioen op de 100 en de 200 meter.
