De Duitse spurtbom André Greipel (Lotto-Belisol) laat dit jaar het WK wielrennen links liggen. Greipel vindt het parkoers in het Nederlandse Valkenburg te zwaar. Dat meldde Cyclingnews maandag.
Vorig jaar pakte de Duitser nog brons op het WK in Kopenhagen. In de spurt voor de medailles moest hij in de Deense hoofdstad het goud aan zijn rivaal Mark Cavendish laten. Het zilver was toen voor de Australiër Matthew Goss.
Dit jaar vindt het WK op zondag 23 september plaats.
