Yanina Wickmayer (WTA 26) heeft zich zondag niet kunnen plaatsen voor de tweede ronde van het WTA-toernooi in de Chinese hoofdstad Peking (hard/4.828.050 dollar).
Wicky ging in de openingsronde in twee sets onderuit tegen de Chinese Shuai Peng (WTA 46): tweemaal 7-5 na 2 uur spelen.
De 22-jarige Vlaams-Brabantse verloor nog nooit eerder tegen de twintig plaatsen lager gerangschikte Peng. In 2008 op de Diamond Games in Antwerpen, in 2009 op het US Open en vorig jaar op het WTA-toernooi in Auckland trok ze telkens aan het langste eind.
