Als Dott niet triomfeert in The Crucible in Sheffield, is de wereldkampioen voor het eerst sinds 1980, toen de Canadees Cliff Thorburn de beste was, geen Brit.
Robertson zal bij winst ook het nummer twee van de wereld worden.
