Team Saxo Bank had tot de laatste plaatselijke ronde gewacht om de laatste vluchter, de Oekraïner Popkov, in te rekenen.
Haedo maakte het werk van zijn ploeg af in de massaspurt en klopte de Duitse topfavoriet Andre Greipel en de Italiaan Enrico Rossi. Onze landgenoot Tim Mertens (Topsport Vlaanderen) werd achtste.
