Het voorlopige deelnemersveld oogt alvast veelbelovend. Zo staan de Verenigde Staten aan de start met 's werelds nummer één Serena Williams en John Isner (ATP 19) en gooit Servië Ana Ivanovic (WTA 60) en Novak Djokokic (ATP 2) in de strijd.
Frankrijk stuurt Kristina Mladenovic (WTA 225) en Gael Monfils (ATP 18) naar de Hopman Cup en bij de Australiërs werd met Lleyton Hewitt (ATP 30) al één naam van het team vrijgegeven.
De Hopman Cup geldt als voorbereiding op de Australian Open, het eerste grandslamtoernooi van het seizoen dat op 17 januari 2011 van start gaat.
