Lleyton Hewitt geeft in extremis verstek voor Roland Garros. De Australiër is onvoldoende hersteld van een enkelblessure.
Normaal had het ex-liefje van Kim Clijsters in de eerste ronde tegen de Spanjaard Albert Montanes (ATP-37) moeten spelen. Hewitt wordt vervangen door de Fransman Marc Gicquel (ATP-130).
De Australiër (ATP-64) ging in maart onder het mes. Hij hoopte op het gravel in de Franse hoofdstad zijn wederoptreden te maken.
