Jens Voigt wordt in september 42 jaar, maar hij is nog niet van plan zijn fiets aan de haak te hangen. De Duitse hardrijder gaf op Twitter te kennen nog (minstens) een jaar door te gaan. 'Nee, nee, nog geen pensioen! Ik zal met genoegen nog een heel seizoen op die nieuwe fiets rijden', klonk het via Twitter.
Voigt tekende in 1997 een profcontract bij ZVVZ-Giant. Momenteel rijdt hij voor de RadioShack-Leopard-ploeg. Tijdens zijn lange carrière won de oersterke Duitser onder meer twee ritten in de Ronde van Frankrijk en mocht hij tweemaal de Ronde van Duitsland op zijn palmares schrijven.
