Kim Clijsters speelt vanavond op de US Open haar halve finale tegen de Amerikaanse Venus Williams. Ze zal echter sowieso terugvallen op de WTA-ranking.
Clijsters prijkt momenteel op de derde plaats. Zelfs als de Limburgse doorstoot naar de finale en de US Open op haar naam schrijft, daalt ze naar de vierde plaats.
Zowel Clijsters als Williams wonnen de US Open al twee keer. Clijsters won haar laatste vier wedstrijden tegen Williams en maakt ook nu een kans, zegt haar voormalige trainer Carl Maes.
